Bagnoles de l’Orne
« The 19th century in France saw the emergence of a need
for a place of leisure and relaxation to reflect a new lifestyle bringing
together nature, conviviality, well-being and amusement.
The peace and quiet of the surrounding nature, the presence of thermal
springs with their curative qualities, the Casino for evening parties, a
lake, and a park with a river flowing through it, all gave birth to the ‘Water
Towns’ and modern day spa tourism.
Today, Bagnoles de l'Orne offers quality tourism with the restored
authenticity of the Belle Époque and its early twentieth century art
of living ».
The Manoir du Lys hotel-restaurant opened in 1984 with its eleven individually decorated bedrooms and its restaurant of growing renown. In 1991 a new wing was added to the original manor house. This wing offers an additional twelve, bright, spacious bedrooms overlooking the park and nearby forest. On the ground floor of this new building it is possible to adapt the layout to create lounges and meeting rooms according to requirements. With this apparent diversity, unity is provided by the quality of the materials and the works of Aldo Paolucci which act as a central theme running throughout the Manor.
This new space plays host to banquets, themed parties, various weekend activities around foie gras or mushrooms, and the splendid Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties. In order to continue to satisfy the demands for refinement and efficiency the size of the kitchen was doubled in 1991.
In 1996, the lay out of the park was modified and Le Manoir de Lys now boasts both an indoor and outdoor swimming pool. The fitted-out poolside with its proximity to the nearby tennis courts makes it an ideal place to relax after your swim.
To embrace the new century the Manoir du Lys was extended again. Seven wooden bungalows, built in 2000, have increased the welcoming capacity. Made of wood and situated on the edge of the forest they are the jewel in the crown of the Manor. Linger in the evening on the balcony dominating the forest and fields and it will come as no surprise to see wandering herds of deer in this green haven of tranquillity...
And you will be convinced that true happiness lies hidden in this place, which is what gives it all its charm.
